Bad news from Pescara

Hello Comenius People...
Hi my good friends...

I am terribly sorry, but I have bad news to tell you: next year I will be teaching in an other institute and for this reason I have to leave the project. As you can easily understand I can't be the responsible for our project with my "old school" any more. I don't know yet who will be the next responsible, but I ensure you that I will give her/him all the needed help to go on with our project and, of course, if you need some help you only have to ask me.

I hope to see all you in the meeting in Pescara.

See you soon somewhere...

Bruno

    • Romanian cinema:

    • Imanol, Lucía and Candela were given the certificate of attendance to the Romanian meeting:

The Official Hymn of our Project

    Hello Comenius People,

as you all know we have chosen the song "Bailaches Carolina" with an unanimous votation as our Official Hymn after Loli's proposal.

It is well known that it was not an easy decision, we discussed for hours...

    we had dozens of options...

we tried hundreds of other songs...

we sang and we danced all night long... just to try...

but our best singer convinced us that this song was the best for us.

This is the story of our hymn... please, have a look at it:

You can find it here, too: Bailaches Carolina

and after that, please have a look on this video, too. It is about human right to have education, you won't waste your time... and on this one.

    Romanian Week in Italy

The Romanian Week in Pescara started the 1st of May for Students' Creativity Day, where our project Building Europe From Roots and the three meetings in Spain, Greece and Romania were presented. Next year we will join another Institute...

Then we organized some activities in our school:

First of all, the 28th of May, our students prepared some stands during the “Aterno Institute Festival": international food was everywhere:

We tried to represent all the countries involved in our project.

    Starting from our region Abruzzo…

    then a stand of Spain...

One of Greece and the Olympics games...

    and other countries, too.

Girls who went to Romania explained what they did there and everything about the Comenius Project.

This festival was opened to students' parents and to whoever wanted to come. Students played music, sang and danced

It was very crowded because unfortunately we were not allowed to give lesson...

The 31st of May, we watched a film: Dracula, in English, after having introduced Romania and Transilvania, of course...

The day after we showed some
powerpoint files about Romanian culture following Romanian team's suggestions: first a presentation of Romania (geography, history, culture, tradition, music, food, of course...),

    an
d then a presentation of Romanian important people like A. Gheorgiu, E. Ionescu, M. Cartarescu, N. Comaneci, C. Brancusi, M. Eliade, G. Enescu...

at the end, the three girls who went to Romania read their reports and offered some Romanian food.

I think that many people in our school know better this wonderful land now, and our project, too...

    And that's all, Comenius people!

    SUMMARY OF THE ROMANIAN MEETING

    THIRD COMENIUS MEETING
    (Arad, April, 7th-12th 2011)

    Nicoleta’s ideas
    • Nicoleta gave us examples of what her school had done in previous Comenius projects (a photo album and a booklet). She also gave us a model of a handout in order to evaluate our students’ presentations, which would be advisable to use next year.

    Our webpage
    • Liana recommended using Mozilla instead of Internet Explorer in order to load up the material on our webpage, since the Explorer can cause problems.
    • Liana also recommended saving our work as a PDF file because, as it is smaller, it is also easier to upload and to open.
    • If the lines are too busy, we can have problems to enter the webpage, but she advised us not to worry and try again later.
    • Nicoleta commented that the webpage created after the first meeting had been hacked and everything disappeared. That’s why we should think about what we can do to prevent this from happening again. Her suggestion was to upload our projects on a special data base, called European shared treasure (EST), created last year for all the schools running Comenius projects. We’d rather have a look at it first.
    • Alexandra suggested uploading all the material with links to each school website.
    • Christian recommended saving everything in the oldest Windows version so that everybody can open it.
    • If we want to upload a powerpoint presentation with our photos (the Spanish team tried to upload one about the Greek week), we cannot do it on the photo and video section; we should let Christian know where we want him to load it, though.

    Paloma’s suggestions
    • By the end of the second year we should summarize all we have done. It should not be extra work, but something easy just in order to put the main ideas into the same file as a prologue to our final work.
    • One idea could be a preparing a summary of all the power point presentations or perhaps we could use a different support (not a word document but something more visual).
    • Nicoleta suggested a chronological presentation with some photos of what we did.

    Polish meeting
    • Dates: 6th – 12th October
    • Agneska suggested a title for our next meeting: A visit to paradise!
    • 6th October: Arrival. Probably all of us (except, perhaps, for the Romanian team) will arrive at Warsow Airport. If teams agree to wait for about an hour (and, as far as I know, we agree), a bus will be arranged for everybody (about 25 € per person). The trip takes 2 hours from the capital to Ostroleka. Evening free!
    • October, 7th: Official and welcome dinner
    • October, 11th: Farewell party
    • October, 12th: Come back
    • Important for reservations: Ostroleka is a small town and there are not many hotels available so the Polish team would like to know the following information by the end of May:
      • The number of teachers and students taking part in the meeting.
      • Their names and surnames (including the students’ sex in order to match the couples).
      • The number and type of rooms the teachers need.

    First year report
    • ALL THE MATERIAL SHOULD BE FINISHED AND UPLOADED BY THE END OF MAY OR THE BEGINNING OF JUNE IN ORDER TO WRITE THE FIRST YEAR REPORT.
